Blessings on your head
Proverbs 10: 6 - 7
Blessings are on the head of the righteous,
But violence covers the mouth of the wicked.
The memory of the righteous is blessed,
But the name of the wicked will rot.
Another pair of couplets from the wisdom of Solomon. Blessings on the head, Violence covers the mouth.
It is with great relief I finally gave up my television completely. Listening to television news is designed to make you fearful, hold you captive in your air conditioned isolation. But now I have a computer. I can read “Angry Conservative Pundits” until my head explodes. Violence covers the mouth of the wicked. Sometimes I think it would be a relief to just hear who, where, when, what, how, and let me decide what it means to me.
This was not the story I was looking for, but this one has inexplicably died. Powerline on the firing of Walprin. Remember him? I thought not.
Then there’s this, which does bring my tendency to paranoia to the fore. Q and O brought this little amendment to my attention.
Rep. Alcee Hastings – the impeached Florida judge Nancy Pelosi tried to install as chairman of the House Intelligence Committee until her own party members rebelled – introduced an amendment to the defense authorization bill that gives Attorney General Eric Holder sole discretion to label groups that oppose government policy on guns, abortion, immigration, states’ rights, or a host of other issues. In a June 25 speech on the House floor, Rep. Trent Franks, R-AZ, blasted the idea: “This sounds an alarm for many of us because of the recent shocking and offensive report released by the Department of Homeland Security which labeled, arguably, a majority of Americans as ‘extremists.’”
Last a birdshot. I had several nests of cardinals nearby this spring, and when the young ones fledged, they found my bird seed in a hurry. My photos are still pretty awful. There’s white balance problems as well as focus, as I have to do the best I can with my own dicey eyes.
Now off to the Friday evening bridge game as soon as I get this posted. Later!
