Home again

I’ve devoted yet another week to my own pleasure. Home now and looking forward to seeing my pillow up close and personal. So reading Proverbs, with injunctions to avoid sloth is a bit hard. But I know I’m supposed to be working at something. Just not sure what.

Proverbs 10:26

Like vinegar to the teeth and smoke to the eyes,
so is the sluggard to those who send him.

I think in Poor Richards Almanac is an admonition for the worker to be worth his hire. Similar, but the sluggard who not only doesn’t lean into his task but purposely dallies, must indeed feel like vinegar. I know they do at the DMV.

I’m just back from a trip, and really want to share some photos from the Walter Anderson Museum of Art, but now I’m trying to get back into my groove… so from Christmas

“It’s like this, Dad!” Marianne tries to explain to Carlo the latest moves.

An interesting History channel take on the 7 deadlies proposed that “sloth” biblically was most probably depression unrecognized. Of course, if depression is allowed to conquer, you slow down considerable (my speed is about minus 10 mph right now), and you contribute not to the community and you need taken care of, thus taking others work from the community. They further propose that many of the rejected “sloths” committed suicide, most popular form by hanging, and thus came the original edict that a suicide must not be buried in hallowed ground (or at the altar as the Bingo Folk read it) as they were guilty of the deadly sin of sloth. Not self murder, sloth. I do like my History CHannel, even when I don’t think they’ve proved a point well enough for me to adopt it. Glad you had a week of self nurturing.
