Why do I write?
Why do I write?
Why do I breathe? The impulse is there, and it’s tough to stop!
Why do I write?
To swat down stray bees bothering my bonnet.
Or to locate them for dissection.
Why do I write?
Someday I may have something to say. It would indeed be nice to have the pen sharpened and at the ready, should an idea come flitting by.
Why do I write?
What is the chief end of man? To Glorify God. As a shard made in His image, I can only hope to find what He intends by chasing my bees, swatting my butterflies. Any creative impulses have long been muted, if not squashed by denial. But somehow writing seems easier than actually doing creative work.
It’s not fair you know. #1 brother knew who he was…his compass was embedded and pointing to his true north from the time he could first express his will. My other brother and I are much less directed. #2 brother has found his path. He’s working hard at keeping the Air Force’s planes flying, properly repaired, and keeping Tinker AFB on track. I’ve raised my family, done what was needful so I could retire. But I still have no idea what God intended me to be. I’d say I was intended to analyze and reflect, but I’m really not that strong a thinker.
Why do I write?
Dunno. Maybe I should take up photography? Wait… that requires some work too. Sigh.

There is a wonderful part in A Prayer For Owen Meany (by the guy who wrote Hotel New Hampshire which we both threw away) where Owen explains to the narrator HOW to read a story and WHY to read a story and WHY people write. It’s about the middle, when the narrator is trying to write a dissertation on Thomas Hardy.

Do you really need a reason to write? Isn’t it enough that you enjoy putting your thoughts, feeling on paper. Perhaps that is all you are supposed to do. Perhaps your jottings will inspire your grandchildren or great-grandchildren when they are found sometime down the line and perused. Perhaps you are just meant to keep in touch with friends and family and give us snippets to consider and enjoy.

Personal opinion, but I believe I was put on earth to make the load lighter for fellow travelers. Anything I can do to help somebody else, I’m all in. (and for me, that usually involves ‘feeding’ someone. If I can’t cook for my family, then my elderly neighbors are the recipients. I knew a lady when I was growing up who took food to everyone in our little town, and when she went in for her last chemmo treatment before dying, she had food in the back seat of her car to take to others who weren’t well. She’s my personal hero.)

Writing is no about you,but its what are you giving to the public(us).A good subject, a point and. a conclusion made a good story.
You have all the abilities to be a good writer..and my recomendation is to get some support by writers themselves.Join a writers club, or assist to lectures of famous writers…at the end it helps .
